Debian 11(bullseye) を 12(bookworm) へ更新

Debian 12.4 was released on December 10th, 2023. Debian 12.0 was initially released on June 10th, 2023.
The release included many major changes, described in our press release and the Release Notes.

少し安定してきたかと思うのでupdateしてみました。

sources.listの書き換え

取り急ぎは、bullseye を最新の状態にします。

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

次に、/etc/apt/sources.list を下記のとうりに書き換えます。

deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security/ bookworm-security main contrib non-free non-free-firmware

要は、bullseye の部分が bookworm に変わるだけなのですが、私の場合（Thinkpad）は debian をnetinstall する時にWifiドライバーのために non-free-firmware を導入したので、non-free non-free-firmware の記述を加えた。

debian12からは、non-free-firmware が同包されているという情報もあるが試していない。

更新

• まずは # apt update && apt upgrade を実行して最小限のアップグレードを行ったあと、問題がないことを確認します。
• その後 # apt full-upgrade または # apt dist-upgrade を実行して最後の更新をします。

途中、いろいろ問い合わせがあるので注意して選択します。私の場合、sudoers ファイルの扱いについて問い合わせ確認があったので、“既存のまま残す” を選択しました。

処理時間は、WiFi環境によって異なると思いますが、私の場合(5G環境)でおおよそ30分ほどでした。

確認

Debianのバージョンとカーネルのバージョン確認しておきます。

Debianのバージョン

$ cat /etc/debian_version
12.4

カーネルのバージョン

$ uname -a
Linux e590 6.1.0-17-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.69-1 (2023-12-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux

※ 上記の e590 というのは、私のマシン名です。

こちらに変えました。

PS

うかつだったが、愛用のメールアプリ Sylpheedが勝手にupdateされてしまい、かつバグがあってメール送信時にエラーを吐く。

downgradeすればいいとの情報もあったが、面倒なのでこの機会に Thunderbird に移行した。

Sylpheedに比べてすこし動作が思いが使い勝手は遥かにいいので我慢することにした。

Sylpheed もいづれは改善されると思うが…
